This was an absolutely amazing experience for the whole family. Marika-san met us at the station and then we walked back to her house after picking up a few Japanese treats on the way. Then for the next 5 hours we we had the chance to try our hands at origami, furoshiki, calligraphy and making tea. We also made the gyoza's that we then ate at lunch along with a superb set of accompanying dishes prepared by Mariko's mother. We are traveling with 2 children (9 and 6) and it was unanimously voted by all that this day was the highlight of our time in Tokyo.

What a fantastic experience, this had to be one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. I can highly recommend spending the day with Mariko-san. We (2 x A, 2 x C) thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to partake in Japanese cultural activities such as origami, calligraphy, furoshiki and making tea. For lunch we learnt how to make gyoza's and then enjoyed them with some fabulous dishes that we prepared by Mariko's mum - yummo! Thank you Mariko for hosting us in your home and for the opportunity to experience the 'real' Japan.
