【Kate's review】 The directions in the email were very easy, and Mariko met me right at the exit of the metro station. I had such a great time with Mariko and her mother. We started by making the sushi rolls. Everything was prepared and ready to go, and after a quick demonstration I was able to make a few rolls with my favorite ingredients. After that we ate lunch, not only the sushi rolls but many other traditional Japanese dishes.

It was great! Then I learned basic calligraphy, different wraps with a cloth, origami, and then how to whisk and prepare matcha. Overall it was a wonderful afternoon. Not only did I get my calligraphy souvenir to take home, but also my own furoshiki cloth and a pack of origami paper which was a fun surprise. Mariko's mother also packed the extra sushi for me to have on the train home. They were very hospitable and made me feel comfortable right from the start.
